Combat sorties over Afghanistan
Staff Sgt. Mike Marquez holds an aerial refueling boom stable while refueling an A-10 Thunderbolt II from the 75th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron, Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, April 2, 2014, over Northeast Afghanistan. The A-10 Thunderbolt II, piloted by Capt. Nick Harris, is the first Air Force aircraft specially designed for close air support of ground forces. The KC-10 Extender aircrew provided aerial refueling to coalition aircraft operating over Afghanistan for more than eight hours on this single mission.
