Alpine pararescuemen train for mountain rescues
Pararescuemen ski below Mont Blanc de Cheilon, which reaches the height of 12,697 feet, while following the Haute Route, which took them from Chamonix, France to Zermatt, Switzerland April 5, 2010. The journey took six days, and each night the PJs stopped at a different cabin along the route. They were practicing their mountain rescue techniques while following the route. The pararescuemen are assigned to the 56th Rescue Squadron at RAF Lakenheath, England. (Courtesy photo)
