  • 388th, 419th Fighter Wings serve as core wing at Red Flag 20-1

    From Jan. 27-Feb. 15, air and ground units from across the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, Royal Air Force and Royal Australian Air Force, are learning how to fight and win together in a realistic combat environment. As the core wing, the 388th FW is the hub for integration, support and resources for the deployed force.

  • 100th space sharing agreement signed, Romania Space Agency joins

    U.S. Strategic Command reached a milestone with the signing of its 100th space situational awareness agreement when the Romanian Space Agency signed an agreement with USSTRATCOM April 25. These agreements foster openness, predictability of space operations and transparency in space activities.
  • Air Force and NSF announce partnership in science and engineering research

    Secretary of the Air Force Heather Wilson and National Science Foundation Director France Córdova signed a letter of intent May 9, 2018, creating a new partnership for collaboration on scientific and engineering research to bolster national security.
  • U.S. Strategic Command, Norway sign agreement to share space services, data

    U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) entered into an agreement with the Norwegian Ministry of Defense and Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries to share space situational awareness (SSA) services and information.
  • Weathering the storm: AF eyes in the sky provide global weather data

    Detachment 1, 50th Operations Group, a small contingent of four Air Force officers, is responsible for seven satellites that comprise the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program, or DMSP. The team coordinates with the space experts of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, contractor corporations and military organizations to maintain the com-mand, control, and health of Defense Department weather assets.
  • 45th Space Wing launches NRO Satellite on board Atlas V

    The 45th Space Wing successfully launched a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket from Space Launch Complex 41 here at 1:45 p.m. April 10 carrying a classified national security payload.
  • Space badge renamed, new guidance issued

    The current space badge will be renamed the space operations badge beginning Jan. 1, 2014.
  • Communications satellite turns 20

    The 3rd Space Operations Squadron celebrated the Defense Satellite Communications System B10 satellite's 20th anniversary on orbit Nov. 28. The anniversary held significant importance for the squadron and for the Air Force, in part because the satellite was designed to operate for only 10 years.
