The U.S. Air Force is demonstrating hydrogen as an alternate fuel source at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii.
122nd FW takes joint training to new heights
The 122nd Fighter Wing recently completed Operation Guardian Blitz during a two-week joint training exercise at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, which included air-to-air refueling, training alongside Navy rotary assets and joint terminal attack controllers.
Air National Guard hosts Open Skies flight
The Air National Guard’s 139th Airlift Wing hosted members of partner military forces for joint training flights over the U.S. at Rosecrans Air National Guard Base here, January 31 to February 2, 2018.

ANG supports SoCal mudslide rescue efforts

The Air Force has selected Truax Field Air National Guard Base, Wisconsin and Dannelly Field, Alabama as the preferred locations for the next two Air National Guard F-35A bases.
Military branches come together for combat training
The 366th Fighter Wing is located in the middle of nowhere in southern Idaho, nearly an hour away from a large city. Not exactly the description of a place one would expect military forces from every U.S. service and foreign allies would be excited to visit. In reality, Mountain Home AFB’s 110,000-acre range provides an ideal training setting with one of the biggest air spaces in the country, for exercises like Gunfighter Flag that accommodate joint-service combat training to simulate deployed situations.
ANG provides aerial imagery support for Southern California fires
Air National Guard members from the 195th Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Group at Beale Air Force Base are providing aerial imagery support to fire departments battling fires in Southern California. The 163rd Air Attack Wing is providing video of the Thomas Fire to the 195th ISRG by utilizing an MQ-9 Reaper.
386th AEW celebrates 75 years of history
On Dec. 1, 2017, the 386th BG, now the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing, celebrates its 75th birthday; a journey that started at MacDill Air Field, Tampa, Florida, in 1942 and continues to this day at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia.

Air Guard dual mission: helping at home and abroad
Not long ago, Airmen from the 158th Airlift Squadron, Savannah, Georgia, were delivering supplies with their fleet of C-130H Hercules to hurricane victims in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. But just a few weeks later, they find themselves on the other side of the world in Southwest Asia supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.

Airmen complete Hurricane Maria mission, return from Puerto Rico
Thirty-five members of the Kentucky Air National Guard’s 123rd Contingency Response Group returned Oct. 17, 2017, completing a three-week deployment to San Juan, Puerto Rico, where they processed more than 7.2 million pounds of humanitarian aid for recovery operations following Hurricane Maria.
Air National Guard restores FAA capabilities for Puerto Rico
A week and a half post Hurricane Maria, it is hard to tell the Federal Aviation Administration was at “ground zero” and in the dark with no power or communication capabilities. Now, the air traffic flow at San Juan Luis Munoz Marin International Airport is back to normal thanks to the Air National Guard stepping in to help the FAA and to restore air operations for the island.
Illinois ANG provides communications in Puerto Rico
The Illinois ANG arrived on the island on Sept. 23, 2017. Within the day following, the eight-member team from the 126th Communications Flight set up a Joint Incident Site Communications Capability adjacent to the Puerto Rico ANG’s 156th Wing operations building at Muniz Air National Guard Base, Puerto Rico. This team of Airmen is now providing emergency communications capability to the wing’s command post and 24-hour support.
