Department of the Air Force pushes fitness testing to Jan. 1
To continue minimizing close contact among personnel during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and ensure units and personnel are fully ready to resume, testing has been delayed from October to January, and testing in January will move forward without obtaining waist, height and weight measurements.
AFMC releases new PTL Guide

According to the American College of Sports Medicine, regular physical activity can help reduce feelings of stress and anxiety. Also, moderately intense physical activity is associated with better immune function.
Air Force releases grooming, fitness guidance during COVID-19
In a message to Airmen March 31, Lt. Gen. Brian T. Kelly, Air Force deputy chief of staff for manpower, personnel and services, explained installation commanders have the authority to adjust standards as needed, while also encouraging Airmen to maintain grooming and fitness standards to the greatest extent possible.
AFMC virtual town hall updates command, focuses on readiness
Gen. Arnold W. Bunch, Jr., AFMC commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Stan Cadell, AFMC senior enlisted advisor, fielded dozens of questions from across the command during the event which was livestreamed on the AFMC Facebook page.

Treadmills recently purchased by the 786th Force Support Squadron require no energy to function and as an individual runs on the treadmill, the machine actually transmits energy back into the power grid.
Airman to swim in 2019 World Military Games
The 15 best swimmers in the Department of Defense have earned the opportunity to compete in the swimming component of the 2019 World Military Games. The youngest team member is Airman 1st Class Michael Yoo, 366th Maintenance Squadron avionics backshop technician, from Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho.
Goldfein emphasizes fitness by walking (actually, running) the walk
By the time he finished 13.1 miles later, the 59-year-old Goldfein was able to claim a personal achievement and something larger – a hard to miss statement from the highest levels about the critical role fitness plays in assuring that the Air Force meets every mission, every time and everywhere.
Airmen ‘battle’ in Alpha Warrior final; team set for inter-service showdown
Launched by the Air Force Services Center in 2017, the Air Force Alpha Warrior program has delivered and installed state-of-the-art fitness apparatus called battle rigs and stations at more than 70 Air Force installations. The multi-station devices strengthen functional fitness, promote ready and resilient Airmen and families, and build morale and camaraderie as units exercise together and encourage each other to complete fitness challenges.

Project HeRO improves squadron health habits
A new Air Force Health and Readiness Optimization program, or HeRO, seeks to partner with squadrons by using data to help Airmen improve health habits that impact readiness. HeRO represents a reboot of Air Force Health Promotion efforts. It is designed to target at-risk squadrons using data and evidence-based interventions to minimize work-days lost to preventable illness or injury. It rolled out at 10 sites in 2018, with plans to expand Air Force-wide in 2019.
