    Numerous scenarios were explored to produce an event that was safe for all and met the high event standards. All scenarios led the marathon team to conclude the event would be unable to proceed in a manner that participants have come to expect.

  • AFLCMC maintenance team airlifts to repair F-16s during COVID-19 pandemic

    To prevent a standard 14-day mandatory quarantine required by personnel traveling through commercial airports, the AFLCMC depot field team located at Hill AFB, Utah, were flown directly to Holloman AFB on a C-130 Hercules the week of April 27 to fix three F-16 Fighting Falcons in a weeks’ time and keep the 49th Wing mission ready.

  • Environmental Assessment green lights Tyndall AFB to rebuild into ‘Installation of the Future’

    The 325th Fighter Wing, Tyndall Program Management Office and Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center collaborated to complete the Tyndall AFB Programmatic Environmental Assessment – one of two major National Environmental Policy Act actions required before reconstruction can begin at the installation.
  • Agile contracting team delivers COVID-19 protection to Airmen

    Air Force Installation Contracting Center’s contracting experts -- teaming with colleagues at all levels -- showed agility and innovation in response to the COVID-19 pandemic when they quickly got cloth protective masks in the hands of Airmen and their families. It's a great example of how Airmen are keeping the Air Force lethal and mission ready. Following the release of a Secretary of Defense April 5 memo on the use of cloth face coverings on Defense Department property, Air Force contracting offices went to work and had a blanket purchase agreement in place April 9.

    Secretary of the Air Force Barbara M. Barrett visited Hill Air Force Base April 30 to get a firsthand look at critical mission activities and how the base was operating under current restrictions due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Air Force Marathon extends current registration prices

    Prices for the marathon and half marathon will increase by $10 on June 8, while the cost of the 5K and 10K races will increase by $5. The price for the Fly! Fight! Win! Challenge Series, in which runners compete in the 5K, 10K and either the half marathon or marathon will increase by $20, and the Tailwind Trot 1K Kids’ Run will increase by $3.

    Rapidly developed in response to the United States Transportation Command's Joint Urgent Operational Need, the Negatively Pressurized Conex, or NPC, is designed to fit inside of a C-17 Globemaster III, and enable the safe transport of as many as 28 patients both ambulatory and litter, and teams of medical professionals to medical facilities around the globe.

  • Wright-Patterson AFB physicians coordinate new protocol for COVID-19 patients

    Air Force doctors Maj. Evan Fisher, chief of Nephrology, and Maj. Matthew Koroscil, a Pulmonary and Critical Care specialist at the Wright-Patterson Medical Center, are leading the way in coordination with the Dayton medical community on a new drug protocol for COVID-19 patients.
