    Effective Aug. 1, the Air Reserve Personnel Center’s call center will centralize at the Air Force's Personnel Center call center at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas. With this centralization, ARPC’s more than 1.3 million customers will now have access to Total Force Service Center call agents 24/7, 361 days a year by calling 1-800-525-0102, 210-565-0102 or DSN 665-0102.

    The Department of Defense issued a substantive change today to its policy on the transfer by service members in the uniformed services of Post-9/11 GI Bill educational benefits to eligible family member recipients.
  • Air Force transitions to a single combat uniform

    Air Force leaders announced the service will move to a single combat utility uniform, adopting the Operational Camouflage Pattern, or OCP, already in use by the Army and Airmen in combat zones and in certain jobs across the Air Force.

    Maj. Gen. Patrick Doherty, 19th Air Force commander, asked his team to deliver a redesigned Undergraduate Pilot Training syllabi “that embraced common sense and held ideas from the leaders and instructor corps to produce more pilots, higher quality pilots with agility and speed.” The homework assignment was to “transform the current syllabi to match the more competitive world in the future,” according to Doherty.
  • Officials approve HSM for recent disaster relief, specify eligibility requirements

    The Joint Staff recently approved the Humanitarian Service Medal for service members, Coast Guardsmen, and members of the Reserve components, to include the National Guard, who were physically present during recent hurricane disaster relief.
  • FYI: Blended Retirement System

    One of the most wide-reaching and significant changes to military pay and benefits over the last 70 years took effect Jan. 1, 2018, with the implementation of the Uniformed Services Blended Retirement System, known as BRS. Nearly 1.6 million current service members have the option to remain in the current legacy “high-3” retirement system or to choose the BRS. Opt-in eligible service members have a year to make their retirement system election. The open period for the majority of service members is from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2018.
  • Wellness for mission success – create balance

    Finding balance and fulfilling all of life’s demands can be difficult for anyone, but reserve Airmen have an extra layer they weave into their lives. This layer involves giving away one of their weekends every month, completing rigorous training and being prepared for the potential to have to drop everything else to serve their country.
