    For one Airman, his childhood dream of becoming a superhero became his reality. Tech. Sgt. Michael Walker, 309th Fighter Squadron aviation resource manager, received the 2021 Air Force Sergeants Association William H. Pitsenbarger Heroism Award March 17. The AFSA presents the award annually to an enlisted Air Force member who has performed a heroic act, on or off duty, resulting in the saving of life or the prevention of serious injury.

    Creating a local wing structure at Davis-Monthan AFB will provide unity of command and allow for more efficient and effective support of personnel.
  • New RTT initiative creates combat ready F-16 crew chiefs, saves time, money

    After completing technical training at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, F-16 crew chiefs will now proceed directly to their first duty station to attend Right Time Training with the 372nd Training Squadron, Detachment 12, which saves the Air Force money by cutting extra travel to additional duty stations.
  • Mobile lactation pods provide secure location for nursing mothers to breastfeed/pump

    The Air Force released an Air Force Guidance Memorandum that requires bases to establish lactation rooms for nursing mothers within unit facilities. The memo identified the requirements for the lactation pods, such as having a private, secure and sanitary area.
  • Joint training makes Australia’s F-35 mission fully operational

    The Royal Australian Air Force returned a majority of its F-35A Lightning II pilots, maintainers and aircraft to RAAF Base Williamtown, Australia, in December 2019, but still maintains a joint pilot-training and maintenance presence here.

  • US, Norwegian student pilots train together in first allied F-35 basic course

    The 62nd FS activated in January 2015 at Luke Air Force Base as a joint international effort between Italy, Norway and the United States for F-35 training. Student pilots from each of the three nations fly Italian, Norwegian and American F-35s under the guidance of American and Norwegian instructor pilots.

  • Civil engineer Airmen participate in IRT project

    The mission for the two-week period was to provide a concrete slab for a new science, technology, engineering and math lodge facility, clear and grade the surrounding area and begin building walls, if time allowed.
  • Luke AFB stands up new F-35A lightning II fighter squadron

    The 308th Fighter Squadron was reactivated in a ceremony at Luke Air Force Base, Nov. 30. The squadron will house the Royal Netherlands Air Force’s and the Royal Danish Air Force’s F-35A Lightning IIs, in a training partnership.
