  • No effort spared to bring wounded Soldier home

    In mid-August, Air Mobility Command’s 618th Air Operations Center was notified of an injured Soldier in need of urgent aeromedical evacuation out of Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan. Immediately, AOC Airmen started to build a mission – REACH 797 – to help save one Soldier whose survival was in question after being critically wounded in a blast.

    The Air Force is working on numerous initiatives to address the health, safety and quality concerns of service members and their families living in privatized housing. These initiatives are grouped along five major lines of effort.

  • The sky's the limit: Sheppard AFB innovation goes from ground up

    Mixed reality used by the 80th Flying Training Wing is a flying environment in a controlled setting that enables students to learn and make mistakes with a safety net. It was created through the use of 360-degree cameras, skilled pilots and actual images from flights over north Texas and southern Oklahoma. The program is able to build instructional content to train students on items such as local aerial procedures and ground operations.
  • Ramstein AB Airmen support Bulgarian military free-fall course during Thracian Fall 19

    As a central focus of exercise Thracian Fall 19, the military free-fall course, paired members of Bulgaria’s 68th Special Forces Brigade with contracted U.S. military jumpmasters to qualify the Bulgarian jumpers on a new type of parachute.
  • AFGSC tests Minuteman III missile with launch from Vandenberg AFB

    The test demonstrates that the United States’ nuclear deterrent is robust, flexible, ready and appropriately tailored to deter 21st century threats and reassure our allies. Test launches are not a response or reaction to world events or regional tensions.
  • AETC to host Developmental Special Experiences webcasts Oct. 3

    The Air Education and Training Command Developmental Special Experiences Branch is scheduled to host two webcasts Oct. 3. The first webcast is available at 8:30 a.m. CDT (9:30 a.m. EDT), with the second webcast at 4:30 p.m. CDT (5:30 p.m. EDT). Thousands can join the webcast on the AFPC Facebook Live. Additionally, 250 people can connect on the Defense Collaboration Services.
  • AFRC restructures enlisted grade force

    The new grade restructure gives senior leaders more flexibility to meet mission requirements and gives Airmen more opportunities to promote.
  • AFRL team selected for innovation award

    According to McIntire, these door locks are designed to be portable, strong, quick to deploy and infrastructure-free with no permanent installation needed. They are also designed to fit both right and left-handed doors, for both in-swinging and out-swinging doors.
  • Mobility Guardian enhances US partnerships, interoperability with international allies

    Exercise Mobility Guardian integrated U.S. forces with more than 1,500 personnel from 26 international allied countries and partners to train on mobility operations at Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington, Sept. 8-28.
  • 31st Fighter Wing executes Rapid Buzzard exercise

    U.S. Airmen deployed from Aviano Air Base, Italy, and Ramstein Air Base, Germany, to Graf Ignatievo Air Base, Bulgaria, to participate in a bilateral exercise with the Bulgarian Air Force.

  • Airman to swim in 2019 World Military Games

    The 15 best swimmers in the Department of Defense have earned the opportunity to compete in the swimming component of the 2019 World Military Games. The youngest team member is Airman 1st Class Michael Yoo, 366th Maintenance Squadron avionics backshop technician, from Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho.
  • Raymond outlines ambitious US space activities, embraces Space Force as a new, separate military branch

    “We’re planning for a Space Force. We need a Space Force. Our nation needs a Space Force,” Raymond said in remarks at a Mitchell Institute breakfast on Capitol Hill attended by influential members of Congress and staff as well as defense analysts, industry officials and media.
