  • New ‘Women in the Air Force' exhibit to open with virtual event March 5

    The exhibit, titled “Women in the Air Force: From Yesterday into Tomorrow,” covers historical issues, changes in laws and attitudes, and women's contributions to the Air Force mission. These displays, which are located throughout the museum, contain one of a kind artifacts used by women in the Air Force from many different eras.

  • PT test pushed to July, updates to scoring, physical components ahead

    When assessments resume, the three-component fitness test (1.5 mile run, 1 minute of pushups and situps) will be reset with scores calculated on a new three component scoring table. In addition, work is underway to separate scoring into five-year age groups as opposed to the previous ten – for example, age groups will start at <25, 25-29 years old, 30-34, years old, etc.

  • Air Force discusses the future of energy efficiency

    At this year’s Virtual Air Warfare Symposium, the Air Force Association held a panel Feb. 23 with Department of the Air Force senior leaders titled “No Fuel, No Fight: The Future of Warfighting Energy Requirements.” The purpose of the panel was to discuss the inherent vulnerabilities fuel and energy present to troops, and plans to mitigate associated risks, streamline operations, and decrease carbon release as part of the Secretary of Defense’s climate change policy.
  • ADLS training transitions to “myLearning” in first step for new force development LMS

    The AETC Learning Services division is launching the new secure learning management system that will enable student learning, automation and reporting for roughly 800,000 Total Force users in three phases, with the first phase consisting of a modernized and interactive training platform that allows Airmen to access training modules previously found on the Advanced Distributed Learning Service.
  • Kelly speaks on accelerating change at Air Force Association panel

    During the 2021 Virtual Aerospace Warfare Symposium, Gen. Mark Kelly, commander of Air Combat Command, shared remarks during a panel on “Accelerating Change Across the Air Force,” Feb. 25.
  • B-21 Prototype Environmental Protection Shelters construction, test underway

    Air Force Global Strike Command and the B-21 Program Office are testing various prototype shelters to identify the most effective and affordable designs that could be used across all three B-21 Main Operating Bases, the depot, and even at forward operating locations.
  • 341st Missile Wing supports USAFE-AFAFRICA’s CJADC2 demo

    The wing contributed by exploring various communication methodologies and technologies in support of a common operating picture. Combined JADC2 events integrate technology into a common operating network which gives the joint and allied forces an information advantage across all warfighting domains.
  • AFIMSC units earn Air Force Gear of Government awards

    The award, administered by the Office of Management and Budget, recognizes teams across the federal workforce whose dedication supports key delivery outcomes for the American people.
  • AFSFC innovates to develop virtual visitor passes

    The DBIDS Defense Biometric Identification System Visitor Enrollment System uses smart devices and the current Defense Biometric Identification System’s web-based functionality to link requesters, sponsors and VCCs in a virtual process to issues passes.
  • Air Force finalizes PT uniform design; will begin production process

    This is the first update to the PT uniform in more than 16 years, and more than 150 Airmen participated in testing the uniform.
  • Department of the Air Force to allow shorts for maintainers, updates variety of uniform options

    Airmen and Guardians will now have more dress and appearance options with upcoming uniform changes to Air Force Instruction 36-2903, Dress and Appearance.
  • New ‘Digital Literacy’, ‘Fosters Inclusion’ foundational competencies now in MyVector self-assessment tool

    As part of that effort, the Air Force has formally added “Digital Literacy” and “Fosters Inclusion” as Air Force foundational competencies, and both have been incorporated into the “Pathfinder 2021” self-assessment tool in MyVector that allows Airmen to assess themselves and review resources to further their personal and professional development.
  • Registration now open for 2021 Air Force Learning Professionals Consortium

    The event, hosted by Air Education and Training Command Credentialing or AETC/A3B, is an opportunity to bring together and develop the community of knowledgeable and committed learning professionals.
  • USAFE completes CJADC2 demonstration

    U.S. Air Forces in Europe-Air Forces Africa, in conjunction with the Department of the Air Force’s Chief Architect’s Office, conducted a Combined, Joint All-Domain Command and Control demonstration in international waters and airspace in and around the Baltic Sea. Participation included assets from U.S. Naval Forces Europe – Africa/U.S. 6th Fleet, U.S. Army Europe – Africa, U.S. Strategic Command, the Royal Air Force, the Royal Netherlands air force and the Polish air force.
  • Air Force announces officer stratification guidance

    “As we execute Action Order A (Airman), we must remain focused on a culture of transparency,” said Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Charles Q. Brown, Jr. “By strengthening our officer stratification policy, we are meeting that intent. This step is necessary to give officers a full understanding of where they stand amongst their peers as well as help better inform our talent management decisions.”

  • Travis AFB Airmen advance Tuskegee lineage

    A crew of 27 Black Airmen from Travis Air Force Base flew a heritage flight on a C-5M Super Galaxy, honoring Tuskegee Airmen, Feb. 19-21 — a rare feat as only 2% of the Air Force are pilots and only 2% of those pilots are Black, according to Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Charles Q. Brown, Jr.
