Gymnastics: Air Force takes fourth at MPSF meet

With six top-10 finishes, the Air Force women's gymnastics team picked up a fourth-place finish at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships here March 30. 

Senior Christine Powers led the Falcons with a pair of top-10 marks, including a fourth-place score on the balance beam.

As a team, the Falcons tallied a 185.575 to take fourth in the conference meet. Host Seattle-Pacific won the meet with a score of 193.050, while UC-Davis (192.825) and Alaska-Anchorage (187.850) finished second and third.

Powers scored a 9.650 on the balance beam to take fourth -- the best individual event finish of the night. In addition, Powers led the Falcons on the parallel bars, as she tallied a 9.575 to take ninth.

Classmate Sashonna Iwaniec posted the team's highest finish on the vault, as she placed eighth with a score of 9.650. In addition, she claimed the Falcons' second-highest scores on the parallel bars (9.550) and floor exercise (9.550). Both of those marks accounted for 11th-place finishes.

Sophomore Abigail Rogers claimed a pair of 10th-place finishes, as she scored a 9.625 on the vault and a 9.675 on the floor. Her floor mark was the highest of the night by an Air Force gymnast.

Iwaniec and Rogers finished fourth and fifth in the all-around, as they recorded respective scores of 37.825 and 27.375.
