  • Arctic Anvil executes multi-domain operations on a large-scale

    Arctic Anvil is a joint, multi-national, force-on-force training exercise that included live, virtual and constructive elements. The purpose of the training was to prepare the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team for their rotation at the Army’s National Training Center in California early next year. NTC conducts tough and realistic unified land operations to prepare brigade combat teams and other units for combat.
  • Seven nations, joint partners address great power competition at summit

    Headquarters Pacific Air Forces and Headquarters Air Force co-hosted more than 140 participants from seven countries, three services, nine major commands, three centers and Total Force representation for an Adaptive basing and Agile Combat Employment Summit at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Sept. 10 through 13.

  • Exercise Pitch Black 2018 strengthens alliances

    Exercise Pitch Black 2018 is a Royal Australian Air Force-hosted biennial multinational large force employment exercise held from July 27 through Aug. 17. This year’s event, the largest since its inception, involves 16 nations, 140 aircraft and more than 4,000 personnel – approximately 150 of which call the 8th Fighter Wing from Kunsan Air Base, South Korea, their home.

    The air war is underway at Red Flag-Alaska 18-1. But fifty miles southwest and ten thousand feet above the dog fighting, a NATO E-3A Component jet circles in its flight pattern, soaking up signals and squawks about the fluid battle space below and providing friendly forces a watchful "eye in the sky" that extends in every direction for hundreds of miles.

  • F-35A scheduled for first operational deployment to Indo-Asia-Pacific

    Approximately 300 Airmen and 12 F-35A Lightning IIs from Hill Air Force Base, Utah’s 34th Fighter Squadron are set to deploy to Kadena Air Base, Japan for a six month rotation. The aircraft and supporting personnel are scheduled to arrive at Kadena AB in early November 2017.
