  • The art of work, life balance

As we progress through the enlisted and officer ranks, we start to gain additional tasks, duties and personnel concerns. Your career is no longer just about you, but includes the Airmen you lead on a daily basis. Sometimes we get so consumed with making sure the mission and the people are taken care of, we forget to take care of ourselves.
  • 'All in' Investing in tomorrow—Air Force Junior ROTC

General of the Air Force Henry H. Arnold said, “We must think in terms of tomorrow.” At Air University we do just that; tomorrow is our focus today.
  • Serving with pride

I am an American Airman. I am a warrior. I have answered my nation’s call. I am a wingman, a photojournalist and a husband. I am gay.
  • Month of the Military Child: My brat makes me proud

Parents worry; it’s just what we do. We worry our child will get hurt. We worry we aren’t making the right decisions for them. We worry they’ve become irrevocably addicted to their iPad and that they really shouldn’t spend so much time watching videos of a 5-year-old millionaire open new toys.
  • Women’s March

March is typically known around the world as Women’s History Month. Although it happens every year, I sense that 2017 is unique.
  • Let's have a cup of coffee

Regardless of your profession, many of us have been in positions defining the required leadership and management qualifications as an expectation of our ability to execute our office. But like many things, no two are alike and not one will prevail without the help of another.
  • Women's History: We all contribute

It was a frigid day in January on a quiet hillside cemetery just north of New Market, Iowa. Surrounded by friends and family, we bid farewell to my grandmother. As we departed on those dusty gravel roads, I remembered my childhood and how she’d had such a profound impact on my life.
  • A modern military marriage

Six years and four months ago I married my husband. I was 19 years old and completely ignorant to the commitment I just made. Dual military marriages make up just over 11 percent of the Air Force population and like many dual couples, we were stationed apart. Less than a year after requesting join spouse orders, he was assigned 16 miles from me.
  • His dream is my reality

On the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. shared his dream with the world. Fast forward to now. When I wake up in the morning, I am his dream. I am black and every day I serve as an equal with my brothers and sisters in arms.
  • It’s all about the hooks

Every Airman, however close to or far from the flightline, is working toward one singular goal – generating, executing and sustaining combat airpower. Each person on the installation does that differently by performing the duties required by his or her Air Force specialty, but the mission could not be accomplished effectively without every organization working in sync with all the others.
