  • AMC’s largest exercise, Mobility Guardian 2019 begins

  • JB Charleston commander recalls all personnel, terminates limited evacuation order

    All personnel are ordered and authorized to return to their residence as soon as possible, but when it is safe to do so given the weather and road conditions from their safe haven location, but no later than 11:59 p.m. EST, Sept. 8.
  • JB Charleston begins recovery operations after Hurricane Dorian

    Recovery teams will return to the base and work to ensure JB Charleston’s facilities, infrastructure and homes are safe for the return of its service members and families. Hurricane recovery teams are expected to begin travel back to JB Charleston as soon as possible but when it is safe to do so given the weather and road conditions from their safe haven location.
  • AMC C-130 rainbow fitting inspections complete

    Thanks to early detection by Air Force Materiel Command aircraft maintenance and engineering professionals and quick implementation of a fleet-wide time compliance technical order, C-130 maintainers have inspected and verified the viability of 113 of the 123 affected aircrafts’ lower center wing joints, or “rainbow fittings,” allowing for their safe return to service.

  • 621st CRW, joint partners team up for exercise

    In this joint training exercise, approximately 125 Airmen from the 621st Contingency Response Wing teamed up with about 50 689th Rapid Port Opening Element Soldiers and five Defense Logistics Agency’s Rapid Deployment Team-Blue members to conduct Joint Task Force-Port Opening in order to bring humanitarian aid and disaster relief to the people of the fictional country of South Torbia.

    An Air Force selection board at the Air Force’s Personnel Center considered 36 nominees who represented major commands, direct reporting units, field operating agencies and Headquarters Air Force. The board selected the 12 Airmen based on superior leadership, job performance and personal achievements.
  • AFIT students inform Pentagon energy initiative as part of new course

    Initiated and funded by Air Force Operational Energy, the course covers topics such as aircraft physics, aircraft energy requirements including propulsion & mission systems and the technologies used to meet those requirements. Future technologies are also considered, along with operational factors such as fuel logistics, wargaming and energy optimization.

  • Ensuring Rapid Global Mobility: Travis AFB supports JB Lewis-McChord, March ARB

    In February, the unit’s maintainers welcomed 18 C-17 Globemaster III aircraft from Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. Over the course of the next four months there were three C-17s from JB Lewis-McChord at Travis AFB, at any given time, along with approximately 100 maintainers from the 62nd Maintenance Squadron, while JB Lewis-McChord completed a nearly 100-day construction project on its runway.

  • First Belize air, land, sea mobile training team

    The 571st MSAS mobile training team’s goal was to enact, change and build capabilities for each of the three Belizean forces, while building partner nation relationships. The team accomplished this by conducting various training courses, including an aircrew flying hour program, aircraft scheduling program, tactical first aid course, aircrew flight equipment program management course, hands-on radio course and an information technology principles course.
  • Air Advisor mission leaves lasting impression with the Guatemalan armed forces

    This was the 571st MSAS’ longest engagement in Guatemala since it began training Latin American air forces in 2011.
  • 571st MSAS training engagement with Costa Rican Air Vigilance Service

    The 571st Mobility Support Advisory Squadron completed a training event with the Air Vigilance Service, or SVA, of Costa Rica from March 23 through April 12 across two locations near the capital city of San José. This fundamental training was the 571st MSAS’ second full training engagement in Costa Rica, offering partners in the area courses from law enforcement and dog handling to aircraft maintenance, safety and aircrew flight equipment.
